Original Air Date: June 8, 1947 – Run time: 00:24:39
It’s Constance Pendleton’s wedding day and her sister, Marsha Hopkins hires Sam to stop the wedding. It seems the groom is a famous ne’er-do-well, a bluebeard named Major Andreas Brodnik whose six previous wives died suddenly, leaving him their fortunes. But Marsha isn’t really her sister. And even the Bulgarian embassy wants to see an end to Brodnik.
On the way to his honeymoon aboard the S.S. Lurene bound for Calcutta, Brodnik buys a few necessities at a second-hand store, a hardware store, a surgical supply house and an undertaker’s supply house. But what does he need with an oversized steamer trunk, a large ball of rope twine, two large lead sash weights, a set of surgical instruments, 20-foot length of rubber tubing and a pump?
Listen and find out!
The cast includes Howard Duff as Sam, Lurene Tuttle as Effie, Joseph Kearns as The Commodore and Hans Conried as Brodnik.
